A good aerial installation is a survey first and a product second. We meter the signal at your property, work out which transmitter your roof can genuinely see, and fit an aerial sized for that reality rather than a one-size-fits-all high-gain unit.
Oxfordshire reception is not uniform
Most of central Oxfordshire takes its Freeview signal from the Oxford transmitter at Beckley, while the south of the county and much of Berkshire looks towards Hannington, and parts of Buckinghamshire sit between Oxford, Hannington and Sandy Heath. Valley towns and villages under the Chiltern escarpment often depend on local relays, which carry fewer services and need a properly aligned aerial to hold a stable picture.
That is why two houses in the same street can need different aerials. We arrive with a signal meter and a van stocked with grouped, wideband and high-gain aerials so the decision is made from measurements taken at your chimney, not from a postcode lookup.

The repairs we are called out for most
Sudden picture loss is rarely the aerial itself. Before recommending a replacement we check for:
- Water ingress at the downlead or wall socket
- Corroded connectors on an otherwise sound aerial
- Alignment drift after high winds off the Downs or the Chilterns
- Snapped elements, rusted masts and failed lashing straps
- Failed distribution amplifiers feeding several rooms
- New tree growth or an extension blocking line of sight
Period property, listed buildings and conservation areas
Much of our patch is stone, thatch, timber frame and conservation control, from Woodstock and Burford to the older parts of Oxford itself. Where a chimney-mounted aerial would be intrusive or refused, we look at loft aerials, discreet gable or rear-slope mounting, or a satellite alternative, and we will tell you plainly which options are likely to give a reliable picture and which will not.

Questions we are asked about this work
How long does a new aerial installation take?
A straightforward chimney-mounted installation with one television point normally takes between one and two hours, including the signal survey and testing. Multi-room distribution, mast extensions and difficult access add time, and we tell you the expected duration when you book.
Will a bigger aerial give me a better picture?
Not necessarily. An oversized high-gain aerial in a strong signal area can overload a tuner just as easily as a weak signal starves it. The right answer is the aerial that matches the measured signal at your property, which is sometimes smaller than the one already on the roof.
Can you work on a tall or awkward roof?
Yes. High-height work is one of the reasons people call us, including properties where other companies have declined. Our engineers are trained and insured for work at height and will explain any access equipment needed before the visit.
Do you fit aerials in lofts?
Where the signal supports it, yes, and it is often the sensible route in conservation areas or on listed buildings. We meter the loft position first, because a loft aerial that cannot hold a stable signal is no help to anyone.
